Introducing the "NSE/Trovestar N Scale Marketplace"

This is an online marketplace created so N Scalers can readily exchange 'out-of-print' rolling stock,  locomotives and the occasional accessory item. It is a peer-to-peer selling engine, and not an auction, dealer, or hosted sales organization. It is NOT intended to interrupt traditional sales channels of new items.  It is designed to make it easy for NSE members to offer surplus items from their collection to other N Scalers all while avoiding the challenges of online auctions, or waiting for their box to come up in our more formal traditional auctions. The functionality is designed to enhance our print classified ads and to bring back the old-fashioned "hunt and discover" energy historically found (but sadly rapidly disappearing from our landscape) at swap meets and train shows.

25 Free Listings

Each NSE member is entitled to 25 free listings as part of their annual membership. These listings can be used anytime during the year of their membership, and additional listings are available as needed (please see the table below). We are working with the TroveStar Online N Scale Database to make this member benefit as easy as possible to use. In fact, if you don't have pictures of the item you are listing, there is likely a TroveStar picture already available for you to use. If you are entering an item that isn't in the TroveStar Database, there is an opportunity for you to add that item to the database, thus growing this community resource. 

Registration

For security purposes, the system uses Google Accounts as the registration engine. If you already use Google for an email address, then you are set. If you do not, getting a free Google account is easy and we have created a tutorial on this. PLEASE NOTE: you DO NOT have to use the Google email address for contact within the system. You only need a Google account for registering. Everything else can be done with your current email address. Some people like having a Google account for their train activity, but the choice is yours.

Payment

Payment is also up to you. Again, for security reasons, PayPal is the preferred method, but you, as a seller, can choose your favored form of payment.
It is important to note that this is a peer-to-peer system, and that both the NSE and TroveStar will do everything possible to help you in the event of a challenge. Ultimately, the seller and the buyer are responsible for the transaction. We do offer a feedback system on both sides, which is available for review before you buy, and we believe that NSE members are the most knowledgeable sellers out there, so we think this marketplace will be more than adequately self-policed.

One other thing -- this is a very early system, and we will be listening very carefully to the users to improve it as we go. There may be bugs, and there may be programming ideas that you find to be silly, or could be improved upon. We ask that you share your feedback and we will work hard to fix any issues so our members can make the most out of this benefit.
